Cycling
If you want get closer to Devon’s countryside and rugged coastline but don’t have the stamina for day long hikes, why not get on your bike?
There are at least three or four cycle shops in Torbay that hire out bikes if you don’t have your own.
Walking
The English Riviera offers some of the most beautiful coastal walks in the country to enjoy. The South West Coast Path National Trail has 630 miles of superb coastal walking and stretches from Minehead on the edge of the Exmoor National Park to the shores of Poole Harbour in Dorset.
The Torbay stretch of this coastal path is one of the most enjoyable and stretches from south of Brixham through to Maidencombe and on to Teignmouth.
Water Sports
With 22 miles of beautiful coastline, watersports play a large part in the numerous leisure activities available to visitors. When visiting Torquay, within a few miles you'll be able to enjoy a multitude of water sports; safe diving with both BSAC and PADI diving schools, sailing, with dinghies and "cats" for hire, plus sailing instruction if needed. Fishing with from shore and charter boat (all harbour areas) is very popular, with some great catches this year.
Sports
Popular sporting activities include tennis, squash, badminton, pitch & putt, bowling greens, ten pin bowling and countless more! Torquay has an excellent Squash following, centred around Torquay Squash Club. There are also a number of municipal courts across the bay that welcome visitors all year around. The Torquay squash club at Barton is always happy to receive visitors and has an excellent bar and snooker room.
There are a lot of great courses close to Torquay and Torbay , a number of which are featured on this site. Torquay makes a great short break for Golfers in both summer and winter.
